| Clean chit to Kitchloo: Shell shocked Cong looking for escape route | | Soz avoids oath taking ceremony to register protest | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 21: Decision of the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief Saif-ud-Din Soz to ignore oath taking ceremony of Sajjad Ahmed Kitchloo is a clear indication that party leadership is not convinced the way Kitchloo is rehabilitated in a hurriedly manner. Invitations were properly given to the Soz and other office bearers of the PCC but none from the organization was present in the ceremony which idicates that Congress is not going to take this issue lightly. Highly placed authoritative sources said that Soz when left for Jammu from Delhi on Friday evening was not awared of the developments in the State. One of his loyalists informed him that clean chit was given to Sajjad Ahmed Kitchloo. Within minutes he was later informed that Kitchloo would be re-inducted into the ministry on Saturday. "Party leadership is not happy over these developments because BJP is all out to exploit entire episode at state and national levels", a senior Congress leader said and added that Soz while interacting with his loyalists have shown his anger over behavour of the coalition partner in rehabilitating Kitchloo. "Saif-ud-Din Soz has deliberely avoided the function to register protest against National Conference leadership for its approach", sources said. It is worthwhile to mention here that before the oath taking ceremony, Soz met with Governor N N Vohra but he decided to avoid the function. Much before the oath taking function Soz called on the Governor and apprised him on Congress party's perception on various issues that are related to socio-economic and political development of the Jammu and Kashmir State. Reliable sources said that Congress party was going to take up this issue with the high command because BJP would forcefully exploit the whole matter to corner Congress only. Today's protests of BJP across Jammu region were indication of party's approach in coming days. Instead of attacking National Conference, BJP leaders rather shouted slogans against Congress for being a part of the Government which, as alleged by BJP, is communal, biased and anti-minorities. |
