| No votes to coalition partners if our demands not met | | | ET Report
Srinagar, Dec 21: Government employees and workers under the banner of J&K National Trade Union Front (EJAC 3rd Front) today staged peaceful protest demonstrations at all district headquarters in Jammu and Kashmir in support of their long pending demands. Hundreds of employees today assembled at press enclave here in Srinagar and staged anti-government demonstrations. Chanting slogans, the protesters led by led by Vice President and JCC senior leader Abdul Ahad Bandroo were demanding fulfilment of their long pending demands. Besides Lal Chowk, , the employees and workers also staged peaceful protest demonstrations at all 22 district headquarters, EJAC 3rd Front spokesman Sayed Ghulam Rasool Geelani said. He said the government has violated its promises by not implementing the September 15, 2011 agreement signed between the employees' leadership and the government. "Unless the demands are not met the employees will continue with their struggle." he added. While addressing the protesting employees and workers, Abdul Ahad Bandroo condemns the delaying tactics of the state government in resolving the genuine issues. He stressed upon the government and cabinet sun-committee for early implementation of agreement signed in between the government and employees. Meanwhile, Ishtiyaq Beig, president of JK Government employees Conference told Global News Service that if the government fails to fulfil their demands immediately then the employees will turn against the present ruling NC-Cong alliance in the ensuing elections. He said that the options are open before employees to support any other party other than the ruling alliance. Pertinently, the employees have been demanding extension in the retirement age from 58 to 60 years, holding of DPC meetings in social forestry, Irrigation, Wild Life, PHE and other departments to clear all the pending promotions in the clerical cadre, regularization of daily wagers, release of 10% DA immediately and removal of pay anomalies besides budgetary support for public sector undertakings. |
