| Teenage girl found dead, family members block NHW in protest | | | Saahil Suhail ANANTNAG, Jan 31: Family members and neighbors of a teenage girl, who was found dead yesterday in Chee area of Anantnag, today blocked Srinagar-Jammu National highway at Bijbehara and staged a protest demonstration demanding stern punishment to culprits involved in the murder. The teen aged girl identified as Iqra Jan daughter of Nazir Ahmad resident of Laribal Bijbehara was found dead in Chee area of Anantnag town and her body was recovered by police with the help of locals late in the evening. Iqra was a class 11th student and was taking winter tuitions from a coaching center in Anantnag town, according to family members. Body of the deceased girl was handed over to family this morning by police after post mortem by Anantnag police at district Hospital. Reports said soon after burial of the deceased girl, family members and residents of Village Laribal Bijbehara today blocked National Highway and raised slogans against the district administration and police. Due to the protest demonstration on highway traffic remained suspend for several hours. Later, on the assurance of Deputy Commissioner Anantnag and MLC Bashir Ahmad Veeri, that the culprits will be identified and punished, protesters dispersed off peacefully. Important to mention here that Nazir Ahmad, father of deceased girl is Personal Security Officer (PSO) of MLC Bashir Ahmad Veeri. Meanwhile, police after registering an FIR has started investigating the murder of the girl on speedy lines and it is expected that police might solve the mysterious murder case within days.
