| 'Accomodating' each other's demands, CSC draft report is finally ready | | 'Rancor' is over on New Administrative Units...... | | No dissent now, on same page now, claim allies Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 31: Catching up with the directions on last deadline ultimatum by none other than the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, the Cabinet Sub Committee on creation of new administrative units in the state today finalised the draft report it compiled after incorporating more details based on the massive exercise it conducted for over a month. The sub committee with Cabinet Ministers on board as members from both National Conference and Congress 'accommodated' the suggestions and views of each other in a 'cordial' manner. A week after the issue of new administrative units remained enveloped in political controversies which reached peak early this weak amid rumours of two allies snapping ties and that the Chief Minister had offered to resign, the CSC led by Deputy Chief Minister finally undertook the pending task and held its last meeting today. The meeting was more of an exhaustive and marathon exercise which continued till late in the night before all the Ministers endorsed the recommendations by putting their signatures on the draft report. Sources said while the meeting began in the first phase after lunch at Guest House , it continued for hours till 7.30 pm when the members dispersed . During this long and exhaustive period the members again held discussions on the additions of more units, as desired by the Congress mainly. "The meeting was held in a very congenial atmosphere.....we tried to accommodate each others points and demands in a respectful and harmonious manner", said one of the members of the CSC, wishing not to be named. It is a fresh report in which some change is there , he said adding that all one can say is that it is report which is Ganai panel report plus something more. Sources said as already made public the new report prepared by the Cabinet Sub Committee shall have more niabats, more tehsils, more sub divisions than what was recommended in the Ganai panel. Apart from additions, in today's meetings considerable attention was paid to making some corrections recommended or incorporated earlier, sources said. However, the high point of today's meeting was that no dissent was reported from any quarter and all members upon conclusion of the exercise were on 'same page'. Sources said the members again assembled at 10 pm and continued with whatever little was left undone before they signed the draft report finally. The draft report will be submitted before the Cabinet in the morning tomorrow when it assembles for the meeting in the Secretariat. |
