| Ajas citizens demand tehsil status; sit on dharna | | |  Jammu, Jan 31: Prominent citizens of Ajas Bandipore constituency sat on dharna outside press club Jammu and demanded tehsil status to the area.
MLA Bandipore, Nizamudin Bhat led the dharna outside the Press Club. Bhat and the prominent citizens of Ajas had earlier made an attempt to call on the Dy CM Tara Chand, who is heading the Cabinet Sub Committee on new administrative units, however Tara Chand was not accessible today.
Nizamudin Bhat on this occasion said, Ajas qualifies for the Tehsil status because of its location. He said PDP had already submitted memorandum to Mushtaq Ganai Committee and CSC and forcefully supported the demand for the tehsil status to Ajas. He said that the people of the area had been demonstrating in support of their genuine demand and expressed hope that the CSC and the Cabinet would take due note of the merits in the demand of this area. |
