| JCC leaders 'Cooperate' with administration, defer protest near CM’s house | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 31: The Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) of employees today deferred their protest demonstration in front of Chief Minister's Residence this evening, saying that they didn't want to divert the attention of Police from Prime Minister's security duty. The JCC leaders said that they had decided to defer protest outside CM’s House in view of heightened security ahead of Prime Minister's visit on February 3 to inaugurate Indian Science Congress at Jammu University. Dev Anand Gill, a JCC leader said, "Hundreds of police cops were deployed near CM residence, and responsible citizens of the state, we decided to defer protest in view of the sensitive deployment". While issuing the calendar for protests and strike on Thursday, JCC leaders had told that they will stage an hour long dharna outside Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's residence from 6 PM against police brutality. They had also decided that on February 14 they will protest outside Civil Secretariat Jammu, on February 15, in all the three regions of the state and all government as well public sector employees will observe 'pen down strike. "If government does not agree to our demands, the protest shall be indefinite,' they added. But today at the time of protest all the leaders were missing and most of the senior leaders had switched off their phones. Meanwhile, Gill also said that they will start a new series of protests after February 5 and the calendar issued by the leaders on Thursday has been cancelled, and they will issue a new calendar after February 5. |
