| Why Govt failed to table Ganaie report in Assembly? : Madni | | | Et Report SRINAGAR, Jan 3:Senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader and MLA Devsar Sartaj Madani on Friday questioned the timing of creation of new administrative units across the state. Madni, who is also Deputy Speaker of the State Legislative Assembly took strong exception to the whopping expenditure that is likely to incur on the implementation of the proposal. "What is the need for creation of innumerable administrative units when the state is already reeling under a financial crunch? The state government approaches Delhi to clear salary bills and in such circumstances, putting an additional burden of an annual expenditure of Rs 1500 Crores approximately on the state exchequer speaks volumes about non application of mind," Madani said. The PDP MLA expresed astonishment over the delay in tabling of Mushtaq Ganaie's report on new administrative units before the legislative assembly. "I remember I was in chair, when the Revenue Minister Raman Bhalla assured the House that the report will be tabled before the members very soon. Many a times, the government made this commitment on the floor of assembly," the deputy speaker of Assembly said. "For what the Cabinet Sub Committee was constituted when the Ganaie report is yet to be discussed in the assembly. The government is responsible for creating confusion among people as nowadays you see protests are being staged everywhere in the state for these new administrative units. It is just that the government wants to gain electoral favors without bothering for the financial implications involved in this proposal," Madni elaborated. |
