| Vipul upsets Malaysian to get best-ever ranking | | JKCA shortlists 60 players for trial matches | | Sports reporter JAMMU, Feb 8: To find out and to prepare the talented stuff ahead of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, starting from February 27, the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) has short listed 60 talented players from Kashmir and Jammu for the trail games. Divided into four teams, these talented boys, drawn from recently held Ranji Trophy, under-22, under-19 age groups, shall compete at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here from February 11. "The trial matches shall be held at GGM Science College Hostel ground here from Tuesday under the supervision of already nominated selectors," vice-chairman of the JKCA Jammu wing, Shambu Nath Sharma said. Each team shall be playing a minimum of three matches against each other in one-dayer and Twenty20 formats before the final selection of the team for Vijay Hazare Trophy. The teams are led by Ram Dayal, Hardeep Singh Samiullah Beigh and Adil Rashid. The penal of selectors included Shahid Parvez, Tilak Singh, Iqbal Ahmed Shah and Shiban Lal. "After the dayers, these teams shall play the Twenty20 games for the upcoming event," informed Sharma. Meanwhile, as per the already drawn schedule by the North Zone Fixture Committee, all the five one-day games for Vijay Hazare Trophy shall be hosted by Services and Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA). J&K Karate Players win three Gold Medals in International Karate C’ship
Sports reporter JAMMU, Feb 8: Goju-Ryu Karate Association J&K team wins 11 medals in International Goju-Ryu Karate Championship 2014 held at Sujanpur, Pathankot. The championship was organized by International Goju-Ryu Karate Organisation approved by All India Karate Do Federation recognized by Indian Olympic Association and Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt. of India, where more than 250 students of different countries participated in this event and 15 students of J&K represented team India. Minister for Higher Education Mohammad Akbar Lone congratulated J&K Karate Association for making and scoring best possible results in the above said International Championship. Minister also advised the students to join karate for self defence and also to bring laurels to the State. He also congratulated Anil Nanda, Chief Technical Director, J&K Karate Association and National Karate Coach under whose supervision and guidance the little buds of J&K participated in the International level championship. Polytechnic College Jammu organises Certificate, Cheque distribution function under PWD scheme
et report JAMMU, Feb 8: The Functions were organized at SKICC, Jinder Melu and Kotli Shan Dolha R.S Pura, to distribute the certificates and Cheques among the successful candidates trained at Extension Centres under Person With Disability (PWD) Scheme. The certificates and cheques were distributed to the successful candidates by Er. Arun Bangotra Principal/Chief Co-ordinator PWD Scheme in presence of Er. Amit Kumar Sharma, Project Champion PWD Scheme, Er K.S. Manhas Lecturer Civil / Internal Co-ordinator CDTP Scheme, Er. Manjeet Singh HOD Electrical Engg. Course Co-ordinator under PWD Scheme, H.R Salaria, consultant of Govt. Polytechnic Jammu for PWD scheme, Sham Lal Tagotra, Head of SKICC, local trainers and various staff and students of the extension center. The candidates were presented the certificates and cheques on successful completion of 6-month training course in Cutting and Tailoring at Kotli Shan Dolha, R.S Pura and 6-month training course in Electrician at Jinder Melu. The PWD scheme is centrally sponsored scheme under MHRD, Govt. of India providing free vocational skill development training to the persons with disability. Under this scheme the Govt. Polytechnic Jammu is providing six month to three month training to students in various trades along with stipend so as to make them self employable and earn their livelihood. This scheme is running at Main centre running in the College and extension centers located at different far flung areas as per the need. Speaking on this occasion. Principal/Chief Co-ordinator aware the students trained under the said scheme about the benefits of the various courses and stress upon maximum enrolment of the disabled candidates under this scheme so that the disabled students can take maximum benefit of this scheme and also provided them information about the other formal courses of the Polytechnic.

However, in the seventh round, Meenal trounced her opponent in Arvindu to remain at second place securing six points. Rajiv Gandhi Football Tourney from Feb 10
Sports reporter JAMMU, Feb 8: The Fourth Rajiv Gandhi Gold Cup Football Tournament shall be played at GGM Science College ground, here from February 10. The competition shall be held on knock-out basis. "All the top teams of the state have registered themselves with the organising committee. Out of these participating sides, top eight teams have been directly placed in the quarterfinals stages," informed organising secretary of the tournament, Narinder Gupta, here today. The competition shall be played under the aegis of J&K Football Association following the laid down rules and regulations of the Association. "Different committees have been set up for the smooth and successful conduct of the tournament," further said Narinder.
Humanity Public School brings laurels et report JAMMU, Feb 8: The students of Humanity Public School (Bassi Kalan, Bari Brahmana) brought Laurels to the school by winning 14 medals in the 3rd Open Jammu Taekwon-Do Championship - 2014. This Championship was organised by Jammu & Kashmir Taekwon-Do Association (JKTA) which was recently concluded at Brahmin Sabha, Parade (Jammu). About 300 students from 14 schools & 12 clubs participated in this Championship. 16 students of H.P.S participated in it & had won Five gold, Four silver and Five bronze medals. Gurpreet Kour (3rd), Sudhanshu (4th), Arushi Attri (5th), Meenu Khokar (6th) and Neha Jaral (7th) won Gold Medals; Navjyoti Verma (6th), Anshu Kumari (6th), Mansi Lalotra (6th) and Kuljeet Singh (8th) bagged Silver Medals while as Koushal Singh (3rd), Deepak Kumar (4th), Ramu Kumar (4th), Aman Kumar (5th) and Nusrat Akhtar (6th) got Bronze Medals. Bhanu Pratap (5th) and Vivek Chib (5th) got the participation prizes. The students of the school who participated in this Championship were received in the school premises by Gaurav Charak (Principal) alongwith Anku Charak (Vice Principal), Pankaj Mehra (Coach), Ms. Jagpreet Kour (Coach) and staff members. On this occasion Principal of the school said that the school management is committed to promote Physical Education in school and in this regard sports infrastructure are being upgraded and enhanced in the school every year for providing platform to the students to take part in different sports activities at various levels. |
