| Govt violates SRO 83, deprives in-service candidates of promotional benefits | | Aggrieved seek judicial intervention | | K Koushal Jammu, Feb 8: In a bizarre case of its type, Government of Jammu and Kashmir through its SRO-481 dated 30.12.2010 has deprived some of the aspiring in service M.Sc computer science candidates of promotional benefits in School Education Department for which they have knocked the door of High Court for justice. The petitioner has alleged Jammu and Kashmir Teachers (Gazetted) Recruitment Rules SRO-83 dated 07.04.1992, for the posts of lecturers in Education Department which were created by upgrading some of its High School to the level of Higher Secondary Schools, Master Degree was required in relevant subjects and the posts were directed to be filled by both 50 per cent through direct recruitment and 50 per by promotional quota. The petition also reads that vide Government order number 1301-Edu of 2003 dated 31.07.2003, 17 posts of Computer Science Lecturers were created and out of total 9 were directed to Public Service Commission (PSC) for direct recruitment while 8 to be filled by promotional quota in the department. The petition further reads that Public Service Commission, acting on the order absorbed 9 candidates of relevant subjects (M.SC Computer Science) through direct recruitment whereas the remaining 8 seats which were to be filled through promotional quota in relevant subjects were ignored and 8 in service candidates of MCA subject were given the benefits through another SRO-481 which Government implemented in the year 30.12.2001 violated its own SRO 83 dated 07.04.1992. The petitioner has mentioned some of the candidates who have been deprived of the promotional benefits for which the petitioner has appeared before the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and has sought justice with the deceived candidates. |
