| Surveillance at Delhi to prevent his flying abroad | | Police constitute special team to nab Khan | | Javaid Naikoo SRINAGAR, Feb 8: Former Health Minister Shabir Khan has gone in hiding after a court issued a warrant of arrest against him. A special team of the police was formed to arrest him amid apprehensions that he may leave the country. According to reports Khan was in Jammu till late evening of Friday and fled during the night. Sources said that authorities have started making detailed enquiries in to the matter and the police have contacted Shabir Khan's personal and official staff to ascertain his whereabouts. Besides police officials are also looking for every possible clue about the matter in civil secretariat as well. Meanwhile, the doctors registered their protests today seeking Khan's arrest who is wanted in FIR No. 9/2014 under sections 354 (assault or use of criminal force against a woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 509 (a word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) which was lodged against him in Police Station Shahid Gunj Srinagar. Also reportedly amid tremendous public pressure, Senior Superintendent of Police Srinagar has today clarified that police did not show any reluctance to take cognizance of the molestation complaint and it registered a case only after the intervention of court. SSP, Srinagar Amit Kumar has said that the complainant approached the Police Station on Feb 6 and instantly police took cognizance and registered the case under the relevant sections of law. |
