| During his tenure 3 Rajouri docs remain absent unauthorisedly | | Shabir's work record was poor | | Bivek Mathur Jammu, Feb 8: Shabir Ahmed Khan, who yesterday night submitted his resignation to the Governor N N Vohra following allegations of molestation by a lady doctor was having a poor record as a Health Minister. While he was Minister Health, there was unauthorized absence of three doctors in his own constituency. Shabir-popularly known as Pahari leader who contested last Assembly election and won from Rajouri constituency was unaware of the fact that in his own constituency-Rajouri where some days back the ICU ward was opened with great fanfare in the District Hospital Rajouri, there was unauthorized absence of three doctors in utter violation of norms. If sources are to be believed, out of four posts of Anesthetics in the District Hospital Rajouri, only one position is filled and that too by a Block Medical Officer (BMO) Bakori area who has completed a six months diploma in the subject and is holding the position of a Anesthetics which again is against the set norms of the State Medical Council. As per a higher official in the hospital, Doctors as well as Staff members usually have to go through three shifts a day i.e. Morning shift-08:AM to 2:00 PM, Day Shift-2:00 PM to 8:00 PM and the long Night Shift-08:PM to 08: AM. Sources said due to acute dearth of staff in the District hospital including one position of Radiologist vacant for the last many years the shift system of duties has been affected badly owing to which patients are the worst sufferers. Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Rajouri, Arun Sharma when contacted by the Early Times admitted the shortage of staff in the hospital and said, "Yes it is fact that there is shortage of staff in the hospital and there is unauthorized absence of three doctors of Anesthetics in the hospital". |
