SRINAGAR, Feb 8: A day after former Health Minister, Shabir Khan, resigned following molestation charges, the doctors in Kashmir are on a strike demanding his immediate arrest.A case under FIR no. 9/2014 under sections 354 (assault or use of criminal force against a woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 509 (a word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) was lodged against him in Police Station Shahid Gunj, Srinagar. The strike was given by the Doctor's Association Kashmir (DAK). Meanwhile, protests against 'tainted' MLA, Rajouri hit Shahabad Dooru area of South Kashmir, on Saturday, demanding stern action against the accused Shabir Khan, who resigned yesterday after a formal case, was lodged against him in Police Station Shahid Gunj, Srinagar, but only after the judicial intervention. The protesters while exhibiting solidarity with the victim said, "The victim lady is like our daughter and sister, who showed courage to come against the tainted MLA, and hence practically encouraged women folk to come forward against the shameless people unfortunately enjoying power and position."
