| Cong unifying force to keep unity, integrity of state: Soz | | | Early Times Report
AKHNOOR, Feb 8: President Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) and Member of Parliament Prof Saif-ud-din Soz said today that Congress is a secular and unifying force to keep the unity and integrity of the state and a befitting reply to the communal and divisive forces in the state. Addressing a largely attended public meeting at Akhnoor, Prof Soz said that Congress has secular and progressive agenda for the state, which strengthen the unity and integrity of all three regions and made the state to march on the path of peace, progress and overall development of all three regions. He said that centre government has provided liberal funding for the development of the state; as a result three regions are witnessing development and creation of infrastructure in different spheres of life. Cautioning the people against the designs of communal and divisive forces, Prof. Soz said that such forces pose a threat to secular fabric of the state and the nation. He referred to the party's struggle for incorporation of 73rd Amendment into the State Panchayati Raj Act and said that it further empower the Panchayati Raj Institutions in the state and sought the recommendations of the Congress party which should be accepted without any dilution. Prof Soz also referred to the demands of different categories of Refugees and said that the comprehensive package for their upliftment, welfare and redressal of genuine demands yet to be forwarded by the state government to centre for financial package, although the centre government is quite positive to extend financial support. He appreciated the people of Akhnoor tehsil for their whole hearted support to Congress party and praised the qualities of PHE Minister Sham Lal Sharma for effectively representing the voice of the people in cabinet and following the agenda of the party. He also lauded the efforts of Member Parliament Madan Lal Sharma for taking keen interest in the development of his Lok Sabha Constituency and taking up issues of various sections of society at the state and central level. |
