Et Report
Jammu, Feb 8: Ignoring the notice of the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC), the Commissioner Secretary Health and Medical Education has failed to submit report to the rights panel since a year forcing the commission to issue dasti notice to the insensitive official.
As per the details, in January 2013 Human Rights Activist Deepak Sharma filed a petition in the SHRC against the insensitivity of the state government in curbing the rising number of accidental causalities in the state and to launch an emergency toll-free number for ambulances and call centre where accident cases could be reported and it be connected to the emergency accident relief centers, hospitals, ambulances, police stations etc to provide timely medical relief to accident victims.
The activist also petitioned to establish "emergency accident relief centers" on highways at a distance of every 50 kilometer to provide emergency medical care and to stabilize the conditions of accident victims. Taking cognizance on the complaint filed by the activist, the SHRC vide its communication no. SHRC/08-J/2013/306 dated 01/03/2013 issued notice to Commissioner Secretary Health and Medical Education to submit its report before the commission in this regard before 22/03/2013. But despite sending various reminders to Commissioner Secretary Health and Medical Education by SHRC for the requisite report, even after the lapse of about 1 year the Commissioner Secretary Health and Medical Education did not submit the report and even not bothered to reply to the notice served by SHRC . After waiting for one year for the requisite report to be submitted by Commissioner Secretary Health and Medical Education, the SHRC vide communication no. SHRC//08J/2013/1814 issued dasti notice to Commissioner Secretary Health and Medical Education to file the requisite report in the instant case. "Commissioner Secretary Health and Medical Education J&K Government has failed to his report being requisitioned by this commission for the last about one year. Registry will issue a fresh notice asking respondent to file the requisite report in any case by or before next date of hearing. Notice be served DASTI through staffer of this commission against proper receipt. Case list on 13/02/2014," reads the order.
