| ST delegation meets Rigzin Jora, Sakina Itoo; complaints against some employees | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 27: Angered over corruption practices being done by some employees of Tribal Affairs Ministry while disbursement of ST scholarships to deserving students, a delegation of ST students today met Nawang Rigzin Jora and Sakina Itoo and apprised them about their grievances. The students alleged that a person namely Mohammad Akram and from Surankot, Poonch has been taking Rs. 2500 per ST student of Kissan Institute of Technology (KIT) R.S.Pura, for the sanctioning of scholarship. "For the last five years Mohammad Akram is deceiving students by taking money to release the scholarship while he also used to say that he had good relations in the office of the directorate of tribal affairs and the scholarships will only be provided if the students will give him money", they alleged, adding that another lady employee of tribal affairs ministry, also came to KIT and claimed that Mohammad Akram was trustworthy and very influential person. "That lady had also asked us that give money to Mohammad Akram to secure scholarships otherwise none will get anything", the students said to minister. Rigzin Jora asked the delegation to meet concerned Minister Sakina Itto, who later called Deputy Tribal Affairs Ali Raza and Secretary Social Welfare department and order them to take necessary actions. Ali Raza immediately placed under suspension the above said employees of department and assured the delegation to take further actions. He assured the arrest of culprits within three days and assured for providing pending scholarship of private colleges within one week. Mohammad Altaf, Aashiq Hussain, Lobzang Dolna, Haleema Bano, Dolkar, Ishey, Kuneez, Padma and Sonam were among the delegation members. |
