ET Report
JAMMU, Feb 27: As the general elections are approaching, the National Conference (NC) led coalition Government will be trying to woo people with their fake promises and work done on papers only to get votes.
The general elections in whole country are scheduled to be held in April-May this year as the five year tenure of United Progressive Alliance (UPA)-2 will be end. As on one side the whole country is wishing change of regime and new and honest faces in the Parliament, the ruling NC-Congress coalition Government may field old horses in the elections, who have done nothing for the welfare of the State.
During past ten years, the NC and Congress members of parliament were not available for people of different areas of the state who voted for them. These MPs were only enjoying the hospitality of J&K House New Delhi and other hotels in national capital.
They never visited areas from where people had voted for them and were expecting that their problems and issues will be addressed. But this never happened for ten long years.
The Lok Sabha seats in Jammu and Kashmir have unique identity. The two seats of Jammu region, Jammu-Poonch and Udhampur-Doda cover 10 districts. In Jammu-Poonch seat, people of four districts, Jammu, Samba, Rajouri and Poonch have to for candidates whereas in Udhampur-Doda seat, people of six districts, Udhampur, Reasi, Kathua, Ramban, Kishtwar and Doda have to vote for the candidates.
Going for the facts, it has been observed that these two sitting MPs of Congress party never reached out to the people to mitigate their problems and now when elections are coming nearer, they will be begging for votes.
This is the high time for people to respond to these people with iron rods and send them back empty handed.
