| 2128 complaints received, 1784 sent for departmental verification | | Staff crunch mars SVO, 55 posts vacant | | Avinash Azad JAMMU, Feb 27: The State Vigilance Organization (SVO) which is an important organ of governance to curb the corruption in State, has been craving for manpower. Half yearly progress reports between January- June 2013 and July-December 2013 tabled in upper house reveal the organization is working without adequate man power. "About 54 posts including AC (R), DySP, Sr PO, Account Officer, Inspector, Programme Assistant SO, SI, JE, ASI and other are laying vacant", read first half yearly report, adding that the organization among these post had referred 12 more posts to SSRB. Another half yearly report that is July-Dec 2013 divulges that total 55 posts including 1 SP, 4 Dy SP, 4 Sr PO, 1 Account Officer, 12 Inspector were laying vacant. The report further said that the organization had received 1448 complaints against 65 Government departments during January-June 2013. "Among the complaints against Government department, the Revenue/Relief department stands first with 248 complaints, followed by education department with 200 complaints", the report reveals, adding that the SVO had sent 806 complaints its respective departments for departmental verification. Similarly, another half yearly report between July-Dec 2013 said that the SVO during this period had received 1680 complaints against 69 Government departments in the State. During the Revenue department again stands first with 169 complaints, Rural Development department 123, Police 80 and Forest/SFC 50, total 1680 complaints including other departments were received", the report says, adding that, the SVO had sent 978 complaints for department verification. |
