| Maha Shivratri-cum-Grameen Mela held | | | Early Times Report Udhampur, Feb 27: The Ninth Annual Maha Shivratri-cum-Grameen Mela was held at Khooneshwar Aap Sambu Temple, Khoon, Majalta in Udhampur district here today. The Mela was inaugurated by Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Udhampur, N.S. Jamwal who was the chief guest on the occasion. The Maha Shivratri-cum-Grameen Mela was organized by Destitute and Handicapped Welfare Association (DAHWA) in collaboration with District Administration Udhampur. Complimenting the people on the occasion, the chief guest said that such festival symbolize unity in diversity besides providing a common platform to the local people to interact with each others and share culture and tradition which further help in strengthening the bond of brotherhood and communal harmony. The ACR also appreciated the efforts of all departments for their participation in mela and making Maha Shivratri mela a grand success. Different Government Department of the district had set up their stalls which aimed at creating awareness among rural people of the area. On the occasion, a scintillating cultural programmes like folk music, folk dances and Dogri Songs presented by the artists of Information Department Udhampur and Jammu. The cultural items were so tastefully presented by the artists of J&K Academy of Arts, Culture & Languages, Jammu that these received repeated applause from the audience. The Comedy Artist Mr. Khabri Lal Khabri enthralling the audience on the occasion. |
