| Batwal Association presents 'Award of Honour' to philanthropists from community | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 27: Jammu and Kashmir Batwal Welfare Association organised function at Shahzadpur here today, in which a large number of men, women and children of the Batwal community participated. During the occasion 'Award of Honour' was presented to prominent from within the community for their social cum philanthropic work. The function started with a special prayers followed by Bhajans, Satsang and speeches of the community leaders and spiritual persons. On the occasion, the Association installed Amar Nath (who was one the disciples of Guru Gyagi) as new Sewadar of Guru Gyagi Temple at Shahzadpur. While speaking, Amar Nath said he was always ready to serve the devotees and conveyed thanks to the Association for arranging such a large gathering during the ceremony. Speaking on the occasion President Batwal Association, Ex-MLA Sat Pal Lakhotra said that the Government of India in 1994 while taking action on a memorandum submitted by community directed the Planning Commission to undertake ethnographic study of the community which was accordingly undertaken by the Census Operation J&K and its survey report was personally collected by the then Deputy Registrar General, India, New Delhi. Lakhotra urged the Prime Minister of India to pay attention to the matter. He also appealed the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to sympathetically consider all the demands highlighted in latest memorandum submitted to him through Minister Ajay Sadhotra. During the occasion a physically handicapped student, namely, Rakesh Kumar Sandhu was felicitated with a 'Certificate of Appreciation'. Association also presented 'Award of Honour' to Gian Chand Sandhu, PiaraLalLakhotra, Ram Dass Kaith, Thoru Ram Lakhotra and Gunni Ram Kaith for their philanthropic work. Association General Secretary R L Kaith and other speakers thanked the Planning & Development Minister Ajay Sadhotra for sanctioning Rs 10 lakh from his CDF for completing of the building in the premises of Guru Gyagi Temple.
