Army jawan commits suicide

Rajouri, Mar 12: An army jawan allegedly has committed suicide by hanging himself from ceiling fan of the barrack in the wee hours of Wednesday, sources said.
"The deceased has been identified as Ranjit r/o Kottayam of Kerala and was serving in army for the last 8 years, sources said. Sources said deceased, a married person and belonged to a well off family but had no child.
"The jawan deployed with 122 Territorial Army (TA) and presently was posted at Narian in Noushera Tehsil, sources said adding, "the deceased had a long talk on mobile phone with one of his family members before taking this extreme step."
Police was informed which rushed to the spot and took the custody of body and after legal formalities the body was handed over to the unit for its handing over to his relatives at native place.
"Meanwhile Police have started inquest proceedings under section 174CrPC and after medical report detailed investigation will be taken up" said Sajjad Khan, SHO of concerned police station.
