Jammu, Mar 23: An prisoner allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself inside the Central Jail, Kot Bhalwal, this morning. "Prisoner has been identified as Ganesh Dutt (52) son of Bishan Dass, resident of Dansal", said a police source adding that he was found hanging inside Kot Bhalwal Central Jail.
Police sources further said that the inmate was a murder accused and was awarded life imprisonment seven years ago for killing his wife.
They further said no suicide note or any incriminating material was recovered from the site of incident. "The body of the deceased was kept in the mortuary of the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) as postmortem could not be conducted due to none of the legal heir reached GMC&H", said sources. Besides, a case registered in Gharota police station, Departmental inquiry has been initiated in this regard to ascertain the exact reasons behind the death, said sources. |
