Jammu, May 7: The meeting to end the stalemate between advocate and police could not materialize today as the advocates did not turn up after the invitation was sent from the office of Divisional Commissioner, Jammu. The meeting was scheduled to be held at PWD Guest House, Gandhi Nagar. Sources said that he four members of High Level Committee formed to end the confrontation between advocate and police waited for four hours and then went away. As per reports, a formal invitation was extended to senior officers of Police and advocates and while, senior police officers including IGP Jammu Rajesh Yadav, DIG Jammu Kathua range Shakeel Beig and SSP Jammu Atul Goel reached on time at 5:30 pm, no person from advocates fraternity made their presence. After waiting four hours i,e till 9 pm, the senior police officers and four members of High Level Committee went away. Pertinent to mention here that the committee was formed to break the ice between Advocates and Jammu and Kashmir police, after the alleged manhandling of an advocate by SHO Gandhi Nagar. The alleged manhandling sparked protests from advocates side and intensified later. The four member high level committee comprises of Principal Secretary Home Department, Suresh Kumar, Secretary Planning B R Sharma, Secretary Law, Mohammad Ashraf Mir and Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Shantmanu. Meanwhile, sources said that, in a bid to reconcile another invitation has been extended to the advocate mentioning for Thursday at 9 amat the same venue.
