| In a bid to retrieve his encroached land; victim endures threats, coercion, inaction | | CB, Police, Revenue stand behind mafia | | Avinash Azad JAMMU, May 7: Beyond their known lackadaisical and cold approach to the public grievances, the Police and its various arms have connived with the encroachers and aggressors rather than helping the victims in discharging their duties on the principle of natural justice. In a glaring incident, after lapse of over a week, after a written complaint regarding life threat was filed by the victim before SP Rural, police have failed to perform its job. According to copy of complaint filed by one Ravinder Kumar Shan in the office of Superintendent of Police, Rural Jammu, who is knocking doors of Police and Revenue department for years to demarcate his grabbed land, he received life threat on phone by one Satish Kumar, a Crime Branch Official on April 30. "On April 30, Satish Kumar called on Ravinder's cell phone and threatened him of dire consequences", the copy of compliant read, adding that the victim in his application had mentioned complete bio data of said official. "Satish Kumar son of Parmanand resident of Panjore, Kalakote, Belt number 795/CR-EXJ-935962, who threatened Ravinder said that he had visited native village of the victim (Ravinder) and identified his residence also", the complaint read, adding that earlier, the victim had received several threats and had also communicated to concerned police for action but nothing has been done so far. Seeking his security and action against said person, the applicant had requested concerned SP, SHO and In-charge Police Chowki. He alleged that Police and Revenue departments, instead of performing their duties, have become a part of land mafia. "Since I am struggling for years to get back my land, the Revenue Department and Police are harassing me", said Ravinder, adding that he has lost faith in Police and Revenue Departments as order of Senior Officials of both departments are being disregarded by their subordinate staff. When contacted to SP Rural, Mohan Lal Kaith, without showing any favour to the complainant, said that due to shortage of manpower police is unable to do its duty. "Most of the men are on duty for Parliament elections, so we were unable to address the issue ", he added. |
