PHE employees demand arrest of accused involved in attack

Rajouri, May 7: Public Health Engineering (PHE) employees today took out a protest rally and demanded that all the accused who were involved in an organized attack on a PHE team lead by a Junior Engineer must be arrested within two days.
A PHE team lead by Zulfikar Ahmed , JE visited village Dhangri , under the jurisdiction of Rajouri police station, after a complaint lodged by the villagers that a family had installed a motor on the main water supply line which has caused acute shortage to other inhabitants.
In the afternoon when the PHE team; included Bashir Ahmed, supervisor and Dalbir Singh, helper, was removing the motors Jan Mohd and his three sons in a fit of rage attacked the team and all the three employees were injured.
Other villagers intervened and rescued the employees from the clutches of the attackers and brig them to district hospital for treatment. People also informed the police and a police team also reached the hospital to record the statements of the PHE employees and started investigation.
Today all the employees of the PHE department under the leadership of Gaffor Dar , district president PHE employees union, took out a protest rally from Executive Engineer office and after passing through Gujjar Mandi area met with DIG, police Rajouri-Poonch range and Dy Commissioner, Hemant Kumar Sharma.
The employees have given 24 hour ultimatum to the district administration to take action against the accused and arrest them. They also said that if the administration failed to take any action against the accused within stipulated time they will snap the water supply in the entire Rajouri city.
Deputy Commissioner has assured the PHE employees leaders that soon all the accused will be behind the bars and a suitable action under law will be taken against them.
Inspector Yashpal Sharma said that a police team has been sent to trace the accused who went underground after beating the PHE team.
