Jammu, May 7 : Excise sleuths at Toll Post Lakhanpur foiled another bid to smuggle 5100 kgs of "Polythene Carry Bags" into the state. A vehicle bearing registration number JK03A-6489 was put on routine check by the assessing officer on duty. The vehicle was declared to be carrying 'Fresh Fruits" and during the physical checking it was found loaded with 5100 Kgs of Polythene carry bags and 3840 Kgs of Fresh Fruits. During the physical checking a fake Challan book of Aman Kashmir Road Lines was also found from the truck. The driver of the vehicle fled away leaving behind his truck. The vehicle has been seized and handed over to the Commercial Taxes Department for further action at their end. The whole operation was conducted under the direct supervision of Dy. Excise Commissioner, Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed along with Excise & Taxation Officers Sanjay Bhat, Suresh Sharma, Naeem-ul Rehman Moghal, Excise Inspector Farooq Chowdhary, Khalid Manhas, Romesh Kumar, Mohd. Arif, Sub-Inspector Dheeraj Kumar, Brij Pal Singh with Excise Guards- Khem Raj and Mohd. Shakeel. This is another major achievement of the Excise Staff at Toll Post Lakhanpur since entry of Polythene carry bags is banned in J & K State. |
