| PDP activists stage protest against snail pace of roads work | | | Early Times Report
BHADERWAH, May 11: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today staged a protest demonstration against the failure of the authorities to undertake repair work of Batote-Bhaderwah -Doda highway and inter-district roads, damaged due to the recent rains here today in front of the SDM office Bhaderwah. Dozens of the PDP workers under the chairmanship of Thakur Yudhvir Singh Zonal President PDP assembled outside the office of Sub-Divisional Magistrate Bhaderwah and raised slogans in favour of their demands. The protesters sought expediting of work on restoration of Bhadarwah-Batote National Highway. The speakers claimed that the government was in deep slumber leaving the people of this hilly area to face the hardships. Addressing the protesters Thakur Yudhvir Singh said that the earth quakes of 2013 have shaken the earth throughout the Zone and landslides have become order of day affecting road connectivity but GREF is doing nothing and demanded immediate ceasingof all ongoing works from GREF in Bhaderwah . He also said that with the arrival of tourist season, the government should have taken all possible steps to restore the road network towards Bhaderwah . He alleged that CAPD is supplying sub standard ration to Bhaderwah which is unhygienic and demanded a probe in the matter. The protesters also shouted slogans against food and supplies Department for allegedly supplying rotten food grains to the people of Bhaderwah. After the protest PDP leaders also submitted a charter of demands to SDM Bhaderwah who assured to look into. |
