| Soz takes on Omar: J&K an integral part of India | | | Neha
JAMMU, May 11: The Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president, Saif-ud-Din Soz, the other day lambasted NC president Farooq Abdullah and his son and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for their controversial remarks on Jammu & Kashmir and declared that the accession of the state to India is irrevocable and final. The immediate provocation was the statement that Kashmir will secede from India if Narendra Modi becomes Prime Minister of India. "Kashmir can never secede from India and the accession is final and irrevocable," he said, "If Modi becomes Prime Minister of India, Kashmir will never secede from India," he further said. Soz needs to be appreciated from his stand on the Abdullahs and Jammu & Kashmir State and what he said must not have gone down well with the ruling NC, which has on umpteen occasions during the past few months made similar statements. Those who watched the election campaigning by the Abdullahs in the Kashmir Valley would at once vouch for this fact. At the same time, however, the JKPCC disappointed the nationalists across the state when he virtually endorsed the autonomy concept. "Kashmir is India's part and other demands over which the discussions are going is the quantum of autonomy". The reason is that he knew with between whom the discussions on autonomy are going on, but did not disclose the names of those from the state who are involved in the ongoing parleys obviously with certain concerned elements in New Delhi. He should have disclosed the names of all those involved in the dialogue process. It was a must considering the bitter opposition in Jammu and Ladakh to autonomy as being demanded by the NC and other Kashmir-based outfits, including the CPI and the CPI-M. It would be better if he discloses the names of persons who are holding discussions with elements in Delhi on the issue of autonomy. |
