| ‘Babus concealing property details’ | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, May 11: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has said that if erring top Government officers from J&K didn't make their assets public through the official Government websites, AAP activists will hold protest demonstrations outside their bungalows. In a statement issued here AAP leader Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat said that it is matter of concern that in-spite of several Government circulars and orders, many top Government officers were reluctant to make details of their properties public, clearly indicating that these officers want to conceal their unaccounted wealth made through misdeeds and corrupt practices. Dr Muzaffar said that more than one hundred Kashmir Administrative Service Officers (KAS) and some IAS officers have failed to submit their Annual Property Returns (APRs) to the government within the stipulated time. Many IAS officers have given wrong details about their Immovable Properties Returns (IPR's) which is available on DoPT as well as General Administration Department's (GAD) website. "How is it possible that a house located in Srinagar's posh colony with 2 to 3 kanals of land will cost Rs 20 to 30 lakhs?" he questioned. Pertinent to mention that more than 200 KAS officers have not declared their assets for the year 2013 to the government till now. Of them, 12 are holding important positions in the Government such as of directors in different departments while seven are Deputy Commissioners. "We appeal Chief Secretary to take action against these erring IAS and KAS officers and ensure that the correct information about property is made public by the Government officers , in addition to it, the details provided by the officers should be cross examined by State Vigilance Commission (SVC) and other investigating organizations. If the officers do not make the property details public we will be forced to hold protest demonstrations outside their residential bungalows," said Dr Raja Muzaffar. |
