| Residents of Ward No 13 Rajouri hold protest against PWD | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, May 11: People of ward No 13 of Rajouri town today held a mass protest against the administration /PWD over dilapidated condition of roads.
Raising slogans protesters alleged that despite several representations to the concerned authorities the condition of the road was not improved by the PWD for the last many months.
"Even during moderate rains the road become very muddy and people specially women and children find it very difficult to move on it. People prefer to stay with their relatives in other wards than moving on this road during night hours" said Narinder Kumar and Mohd Afzal .
Villagers said that even the private transporter operators avoid to ply their vehicles on this road fearing damage to their vehicles. Ramesh Kumar , AEE, PWD while repeating the years old excuse of shortage of funds informed the reporters that as soon as the department will get the funds the repair work will be started. Villagers on other hand have threatened a large scale agitation if the repiring work was not started within next few days.
They also alleged that the district administration and officials of the PWD taking the issue very lightly and have warned a large scale protest and said for any untoward incident the department and the administration will be responsible. |
