| Protest against police for failure to curb robbery | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 11: A day after robbery at the residence of a professor at Talab Tillo area, people in large number came out and held protest demonstration against police while alleging that the men in khaki have failed curb the menace of robbery. The protesters also took exception to the fact that the accused has not been arrested despite the fact that he has been identified by the professor. The protest demonstration started when professor identified one of his neighbours as a robber. Despite raising the issue the police failed to arrest the accused. Meanwhile a senior police officer said that the two real brothers of the accused have been lifted. Pressure has also been mounted on the family members of the accused to press for his arrest. The protestors were pacified after senior police officers assured them that the accused would be booked and arrested as the hunt is on to nab him. Pertinent to mention here that a robbery at gun point in Talab Tillo area, took place on Saturday night at the residence of a professor near Suvidha Nursing Home. The robber snatched a gold bracelet and a ring from the professor namely Uppal and his daughter and fled from the spot. The incident took place in the late hours on Saturday. After the incident, SSP Jammu, SP North, SDPO and concerned SHO rushed to the spot. |
