| TA soldier arrested for sexual assault | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, May 11: Rajouri police have arrested a Territorial Army (TA) soldier for an alleged sexual assault after a complaint by a young girl resident of Bhela colony. The incident took place on Saturday evening when the girl was passing through a narrow street and the accused blocked her way and attempted alleged sexual assault. Immediately after the incident parents of the girl brought the matter into the notice of Mubassar Latifi, district SP and accordingly a First Information Report (FIR) was lodged against the TA soldier under sections 323/509/341/354 RPC (FIR No 233/2014). The accused has been identified as Aftab Rathar @ Prince resident of Rajouri and presently posted at Palma near Rajouri city in 156 TA battalion. Police sources said that on the complaint of the victim, who had accused the TA jawan of sexual harassment, police swung into action and arrested the accused from the house of his friend in the late night hours on Saturday. Sources said that the accused reportedly had made provocative advances amounting to molestation. |
