| Police foils kidnapping of 'dhaba' owner, cop injured | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 18: A constable received injuries when he was attacked by three unidentified kidnappers, who were making an attempt to abduct a 'dhaba' owner from Channi area of the city late last night. Police spokesman said that during the intervening night of May 17 and 18 at about 2:30 am, three unknown motorcycle borne youth allegedly kidnapped one Darshan Lal of Malik Market area falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station, Channi Himmat. Darshan Lal who runs a 'dhaba' at Raya Morh was returning home and was intercepted by three motorcycle borne youth near Nissan showroom where they forced him to sit with them on their own motorcycle. "On seeing a motorcycle with 4 persons, the police personnel present on the 'naka' at Stadium Morh tried to stop them but they fled away", said spokesman adding that the 'naka' party immediately alerted the police bike patrol party who began chasing the offending bike. The police party finally caught up with the offending bike and rescued Darshan Lal from the clutches of the unknown kidnappers. However, the kidnappers attacked the police party with sticks which they were carrying. As a result, Constable Ali Hussain of Channi Himmat police station received major fractures on his left arm. The criminals managed to escape while a manhunt has been launched to nab them. A case under FIR No. 50/2014 under sections 341, 382, 323, 364, 353 and 332 of RPC has been registered at Channi Himmat police station with regard to this incident.It may be mentioned that a total of 80 motor cycles and 160 police personnel have been deployed for night hours in District Jammu as part of the strategy to prevent burglaries and other night time crimes. |
