JAMMU, May 18: Despite being swept out of power in New Delhi, Congress ministers in Jammu and Kashmir have seemingly decided not to change their style of functioning and continue with transfer industry.
A copy of the complaint addressed to AICC President Sonia Gandhi with spine chilling content assessed by Early Times has given a detailed account of the working style of some cabinet ministers as well as state Ministers of Congress. Penned by an ex-congressman who has now quit active politics, complaint has pointed towards corrupt practices and wrongdoings of the Congress ministers in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the complainant, some cabinet ministers of Congress have begun preparing transfer lists of the officials in their departments. The complainant has stated that all other ministers including state ministers have readied their lists and would be issuing the orders once the mourning over Lok Sabha decimation is over.
Of these ministers, the complaint has maintained that one even wanted to issue some orders on the 16th but he was stopped from doing so by one of his close friends who told him that it would become a major issue. He has further said that the said minister is eagerly waiting for next working day to issue the orders. Complainant has further said that the said minister has received innumerable gifts during the last two months when the model code of conduct was in force.
In a fit of rage, this minister told one of his close confidents "Azad sahab has lost. Should we now stop dinning and drinking? Whatever has happened has happened? We must now move forward. We have to fight another election and have to make preparations for that." Another minister of state (MOS) with independent charge has achieved the rare distinction of forcing the officials of the department under him to pay his wife's shopping bills.
According to the complaint, the minister's office rings up officials at odd hours asking them to pay for ice-creams, gifts for children and even shopping bills. Some are asked to buy fodder trucks while others are asked to gift mobile phones to the relatives and close friends of the minister, the complainant has claimed. He has said that even PROs and Personnel Assistants of this minister ask the officials to arrange movie tickets, bookings in various hotels and even air tickets in certain cases for their friends, relatives and guests from within and outside the state.
