Srinagar, May 18 : Cold wave conditions continued in Kashmir after Western Disturbance (WDs) hit the region today. Both maximum and minimum temperature remained below normal as intermittent rain was recorded during the past 24 hours. A Met department spokesman said WDs, originating in Arabian sea had hit the region after crossing through Afghanistan and Pakistan. People continued to wear woollen and warm clothes as the sky remained cloudy with traces of rain during the past 24 hours.
He said light to moderate rain or thundershowers would occur at a few places over Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours.
There could be scattered rain or thundershowers till May 2Ist, he said.
World famous ski resort of Gulmarg recorded 4.4 degree minimum temperature, two notches below normal, which was colder than Leh and Kargil where the night temperature was it was 5 degree and 5.8 degree respectively.
The summer capital, Srinagar, also recorded below normal minimum temperature.
Met spokesman said light rain or thundershowers would occur during the next 24 hours. |
