Early Times Report
Jammu, May 22: The recently concluded Lok Sabha elections have seen the rout of many small national parties in Jammu and Kashmir as these parties failed to perform from their parent states. These parties include, Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Mulayam Singh's Samajwadi Party (SP), Sharad Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Sharad Yadav's Janta Dal United, Lalu's Rashtriya Janta Dal and many such parties, who have suffered a huge setback in states from where they have emerged. These parties were trying to make their base in Jammu and Kashmir as well especially in Jammu region where few years back, BSP and SP were able to make a statement by winning seats in Assembly elections. But as these parties, especially, BSP, which has scored a big zero in Uttar Pradesh (UP), the party has lost its ground in Jammu as well. Same is the case with SP, NCP, JDU, RJD and others who are dead before hatching. These days only two parties, Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) and Congress party are seen as national parties and in J&K National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are trying to give them a competition. Though in Lok Sabha elections, NC and Congress were routed from the state as well but their presence is still felt in many parts, regions and sub-regions of the state. The so called small national parties must observe this fact that they are only regional parties, limited to their parent states and their existence beyond that is questionable. They must not try to increase their base as it will only lead to wastage of money. Many leaders from state, who are running these parties in the state, should move to parties which have base in the state so that they could be recognised. |
