Early Times Report POONCH, May 22: Continuing drive to protect consumer interest, a team of officers of Legal Metrology Department (LMD) Poonch headed by Assistant Controller Rajesh Heera conducted surprise inspection of business establishments and booked eleven traders for violating the consumers rights. "During the surprise visit, the enforcement team visited hardware stores, sweet shop, ration depots, goldsmiths, karayana shops and kerosene oil depots at various localities including Bhainch, Khanater and Surankote of Poonch, spokesperson LMD Poonch stated and added, "Inspector Legal Metrology Poonch Prittam Chand booked 11 traders for violating the various provisions of J&K Weights and Measures (Enf.) and realized fine upto Rs 7400/- from the defaulter traders. The LMD officials also warned traders of stern legal action in case of further indulgence in the anti consumer practices and directed traders in general to use only verified weighing instruments and to sell the packages with mandatory declaration of MRP, Net Weight, Packing Date, complete address of the manufacturers and packers along with the consumer helpline number. |
