| Bovine smuggling bid foiled, 5 held | | | Samba, May 29: Continuing its drive against bovine smuggling, the Samba police foiled a smuggling bid and arrested five bovine smugglers while rescuing 16 animals from their clutches here today. The accused have been identified namely as Raj Kumar s/o Om Parkash r/o Bhojpur, R S Pura, Vipin Kumar s/o Jagdish Raj r/o Chak Bhagta, R S Pura, Surjeet Singh s/o Yash Pal r/o Bhagga R S Pura, Sunny Kumar s/o Pritam Lal r/o Bhojpur, R S Pura and Sandeep Choudhary s/o Ghara Ram r/o Ansa R S Pura. According to police spokesperson, following a specific input Police Party of Police Station Ghagwal headed by Inspector Anu Kumar Sharma, SHO P/S Ghagwal under the supervision of Vijay Pal Singh, Dy SP (HQ) Samba laid a surprise naka. "During Naka checking at (Jatwal) Ghagwal the police team intercepted five vehicles bearing regd Nos. JK02AP-0805, JK02AW-5753, JK02BC-4135, JK02BB-3087 & JK02AS-5686 and found 16 bovine animals loaded for illegal transportation without permission from Kathua towards Jammu." "All the drivers of the said vehicles identified namely as Raj Kumar, Vipin Kumar, Surjeet Singh, Sunny and Sandeep were arrested on spot, police said. Police said that above mentioned vehicles were seized and animals were rescued, police said. A case FIR No. 33/2014 U/S 188 RPC, 2/3 PC Act, was registered at P/S Ghagwal and investigation carried on. |
