Arun Singh JAMMU, May 29: The orders of Pro-Chancellor to Jammu University, Omar Abdullah, directing University authorities to streamline the system to ensure one officer on one post, have fallen flat as numerous officers still have multiple posts, while on the other hand, there are many officers, who have been assigned no responsibility. Sources informed Early Times that there were more than half a dozen officers in Jammu University, who have been holding multiple posts for the last more than two years, but the administration has deliberately turned a blind eye towards the matter. First in the list is Jai Kumar Sharma, who has been holding three posts including Special Secretary to Vice Chancellor, Administrator of Zorawar Singh Auditorium, Incharge Guest House of Jammu University. "Few days back, protests were organized by a student organization against Special Secretary to Vice Chancellor for removing him from too many posts but the protests disappeared in a mysterious manner", sources said. An employee of Vice Chancellor Secretariat informed that there was a hidden agenda behind protests against Jai Kumar Sharma. "Exorbitant Bills to the tune of several lakhs, sent by an officer of a particular campus, have been withheld by Jai Kumar Sharma for the last many days, following which said officer is abusing student organization to stage protest against Sharma", he said, adding that the Vice Chancellor took a firm stand over the demand and refused to buckle to pressure tactics. Moreover, another Professor Archana Kesar of Dogri Department is holding four posts including HOD of Punjabi Department, Principal Music and Fine Arts College, Director of Musical Instruments, Convener of Dogri department. Sources further said that she is also eyeing post of Dean Academic Affairs (DAA) which is likely to fall vacant soon. Another Professor, Baljit Singh is holding the post of Director Nehru Center and Director of Department of Strategic and Regional Studies (DSRS). "For the last two years, no admission to M.Phil and Ph.D has been made arguing that the aspiring candidates of Jammu University are not intelligent enough for getting enrolled for such courses", sources said. |
