| SWD distributes Rs 8.70 lakh among unmarried females at Ramban | | | Ramban, May 29: Social Welfare Department with District Development Commissioner Ramban M H Malik distributed an amount of Rs. 8.70 lakh among the 29 unmarried girls of the district whose parents were not able to arrange their marriage because of earning their livelihood below poverty line. District Social Welfare Officer Ramban V. S. Charak and CDPO Ramban were also present on the occasion. DSWO while interacting with the beneficiaries told that these unmarried matriculate BPL girls had applied under a welfare scheme during the month of March 2014.
A large no. of deserving girls applied for the financial assistance but the funds were released keeping in view the priority for higher age. He revealed that this assistance is being given to the deserving applicants at the rate of Rs 30,000. The department has projected the names of all the applicants to higher authorities and the assistance for these applicants is expected to be released very soon. Speaking on the occasion DDC told that the government is providing assistance to the needy downtrodden section of the society through various schemes of the Social Welfare department. He appealed to the people to come forward and take benefit of these schemes. |
