kishtwar, May 29: On the instructions of DDC Kishtwar Mohammad Javed Khan a team of Legal Metrology Department headed by Assistant Controller Legal Metrology Kishtwar, Jaideep Singh Sambyal today launched a special drive against the practice of overcharging, violation of laws of weight and measures and use of polythene bags in the main market of Kishtwar town. Acting on the general grievance of common people, the team booked 17 vegetable and fruit vendors, chicken and mutton dealers for blatantly violating laws of weight and measures. The team also inspected the wine shop in bus stand and found the violation of packaged commodities rules for which the owner was challaned under the proper sections. A total amount of Rs. 7050 was realised from the defaulters. The Assistant controller also apprised the general public and traders not to use polythene carry bags as these are banned in the district. He urged them all to help in making Kishtwar a polythene free district.
