Yankee, Rainawari win in Chevrolet Cup

JAMMU, July 1: Yankee Cricket Club (YCC) and Rainawari Cricket Club (RCC) won their respective matches to strengthen their position in the league round of the ongoing Chevrolet Cup Twenty20 Cricket Tournament at KC Public School ground, here today.
The YCC trounced Star XI by a huge margin of 84 runs. Batting first, YCC set a target of 167 runs for six wickets, which, in reply, Star Club could not chase and bowled out for 82 runs in 18.1 overs.
Manpreet Singh and Abhay were main scorers with 32 and 29 runs in their respective accounts while Kapil contributed 23 runs. From Star XI, Zulfi and Nasir took two wickets each. Robin and Sanju shared apiece each.
Later, Star XI could not maintain the required run rate and in the process lost all their wickets in 18.1 overs for 82 runs. Vishal made highest 36 runs and Robin contributed 24.
Jerry remained most successful bowler from YCC with four wickets for nine runs in four overs while Romil took three for 13 in four overs. Bharat and Kapil took one wicket each.
Jerry was named man of the match for his four wickets haul.
Meanwhile, Rainawari Cricket Club (RCC) won their fourth and last league tie today beating Katcha Talab Cricket Club (KTCC) by 67 runs. With today's win, Rainawari Club topped the group thus qualified for the knock-out stages of quarterfinals.
Earlier, RCC won the toss and batting first made 163 runs losing five wickets in a match that was reduced to 15 overs due to wet outfield because of overnight rains.
Satish (38), Ishan (35) and Rahul Mussa (25) were top scorers. From KTCC, Rohtak secured two wickets while Mukesh, Tony and Sunil shared apiece each.
In reply, KTCC bundled out for 96 runs playing full 15 overs. Kuldeep, Satish and Rohit Bhat shared three wickets each.
Later, Satish was declared man of the match for his all round performance. Today's matches officiated by Abhijot Singh Bedi and Sandeep Manchanda as umpires while Sohail Yusuf was scorer.
