| Governance costs JK dearly | | | Early Times Report srinagar, July 1: Governance costs the state of Jammu and Kashmir a whooping 250 Cr. This includes the fat salaries of the legislators that have been hiked from 17000 in 2002 to 85000 in 2012. Besides fat salaries, the legislator and his family are entitled to the other components that drain the precious resources of the state are governor, Council of Ministers and administration of justice. In 2012-2013, the expenditure on these key organs of the State was Rs 172.17 crore while as on State legislature was Rs 32. 77 crore and on administration of justice it was Rs 128.89 crore. A legislator and his family are also entitled to full reimbursement of expenses made on any kind of treatment including surgeries - both within and outside the state. The expenditure is expected to register an increase in the current fiscal. An estimated expenditure on State legislatures Rs 39.17 crore has been proposed. The major chunk of it is going to be spent on administration of justice. It is expected to be around Rs 196 crore. For the State legislatures and the Governor, it has projected an estimated cost of Rs 39.17 crore and Rs 7.2 crore respectively. |
