Jammu, July 1:Activists of ASHA Workers Union Jammu affiliated with CITU from different Blocks/ Districts assembled in Greenbelt Park, Gandhinagar Jammu today to protest against state and union governments to focus their long pending demands. According to press release a massive protest demonstration led by Comrade Sunita Bhagat General Secretary of the Union marched from Greenbelt Park to Divisional Commissioner's office to hand over a memorandum to Chief Minister of the state through Divisional Commissioner Jammu. Sham Prasad Kesar senior leader of the CITU expressed anguish over the step motherly treatment with the ASHA workers by the state and central government. Kesar raised their demands like Regularise ASHA workers as permanent employees, implement the recommendations of the 45th Indian Labour Conference for regularization, minimum wages and social security including pension, gratuity, EPF, medical facilities for them. Pending regularization, minimum wages of Rs 15000 per month should be paid; remuneration should be linked up with consumer price index. |
