| Infiltration attempt foiled, fire exchange at LoC | | | Early Times Report
Mendhar, July 5:A major infiltration attempt was foiled by army along Line of Control (LoC) in Balakote area of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday late evening, a senior army official said.The official said that around 10-12 intruders tried to sneak into this side at forward area of Lanjoite in Balakote area of the district at around 11:00 pm last evening. The Pakistani army's 651 Mujahid regiment who were guarding the fence other side at Chile Post opened the fire upon several Indian posts including 485 A and 637 in Balakote.The army's 5 Grenadier who were deployed in these posts and are guarding the fence retaliated the Pak army's fire which continued intermittently till 2.00 a.m, he said, adding that the main aim of Pak army's fire was to push the infiltrators into this side. However, the attempt was foiled by the alert troops deployed along the Line of Control (LoC), the official said; adding that searches in the area has been launched. |
