| NSF pays tributes to Swami Vivekananda | | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 5: National Secular Forum (NSF), Jammu University Unit today paid rich tributes to Swami Vivek- ananda on his 112th death anniversary. Amid slogans "Swami Vivekananda - Amar Raha" 'Bharat Mata ki jai", and they paid tributes to Swami Vivekananda and garlanded the portraits of the son of soil. Dr. Vikas Sharma was the chief guest and Sukhdev Singh President NSF, presided over the function. Speaking on the occasion Dr. Vikas Sharma appreciated the initiative taken by the NSF member to remember the martyrs of Swami Vivekananda who have sacrificed their lives for the Country. Swami Vivekananda is a Bengali who was born in 1863 and passed away in 1902. He also threw light on the life and said that government of India in 1984 declared and decided to observe the birth of Swami Vivekananda (12 January, according to English calendar) as National Youth Day every year from 1985 onwards. Sukhdev Singh also addressed the gathering and threw light on the life and preaching of Vivekananda. He also said that Swami Vivekananda is one of most admired spiritual leaders of India. An inspiring spiritual and social leader, Vivekananda left an indelible mark in history with his teachings, which are studied around the world. He said that SWAMI VIVEKANANDA'S inspiring personality was well known both in Indiaand in America during the last decade of the nineteenth century and the first decade of the twentieth. The unknown monk of India suddenly leapt into fame at the Parliament of Religions held in Chicago in 1893, at which he represented Hinduism. The whole programmed was coordinated by Ajaz Shah, Vikram Madhyal, Amit Sanotra, Varun, Anees Charak, and Gopal others. |
