| Taj’s son-in-law leading default, administration flouting HC orders | | Illegally constructed hotels at Pahalgam operating contemptuously | | Saahil Suhail Movera (Pahalgam), July 8: Over a dozen huts and hotels constructed in violation of High Court directions, are operating illegally in this famous resort of South Kashmir with Health Minister, Taj Mohi-ud-Din’s son-in-law leading the contempt under the nose of Pahalgam Development Authority and Tourism Department. Sources said that owners of illegally constructed hut and hotels in nexus with Pahalgam Development Authority and Tourism Department has made them operational that too without any No Objection Certificate (NOC) from any concerned department. Locals said that all the illegal business is going on due to the nexus between hoteliers and concerned departments. “All these huts and hotels belong to top bureaucrats and politicians and administration has no courage to stop this illegal business, “locals told Early Times. They said that leading from the front Health Minister Taj Mohi-ud-Din’s Son-in-Law Tariq Ahmad Tang was violating the norms and had made operational all his four hotels which he constructed on the river bank in violation of High Court directions in Movera area of Pahalgam. They said that others including retried officials, influential contractors too had made their hotels operational as all the concerned departments including Pahalgam Development Authority and Toursim Department failed to control this illegal business. “On a daily routine we see employees of PDA and Tourism Department roaming here but none of them actually comes here to ban the illegal operation of hotels but are visiting the hotels to collect ‘hafta’,” claimed a local. Pertinently, Jammu and Kashmir High Court directed authorities in Anantnag to demolish illegal constructions around water bodies in Pahalgam. However, the orders were thrown to winds as no illegal construction was demolished. Chief Executive Officer, Chief Engineer Irrigation and Flood Control and District Development Commissioner Anantnag were also directed by another division bench to ensure that no construction activity is carried in violation of the earlier order of not allowing any construction within 200 meters of Lidder, however, administration is flouting the orders by allowing construction and operations of these hotels. Ironically, the district administration is ensuring uninterrupted electricity and water supply to these illegally constructed huts and hotels but interestingly haven’t made any step to ban this illegal business. |
