9 employees of Sheep Husbandry Deptt killed in Sinthan Sumo accident

Kishtwar, July 8: In a yet another tragic accident in mountainous Kishtwar district nine employees of Sheep Husbandry department including a district officer were killed when a Tata sumo, which was on way from Kishtwar to Warwan via Sinthan, met with a tragic accident near Potato farm, resulting in on-spot death of all the nine occupants.
As per the details available with "Early Times" the incident took place at around 10:00 AM in the morning, when the ill fated vehicle skidded off the road and rolled down into 450 feet deep gorge near Machrari Morh belt of Tehsil Chatroo some 70 kilometers from district headquarter Kishtwar.
All the deceased employees were on their way to Warwan for organizing a special camp of the department to facilitate better medicare to the live stock in the area suffering from some unknown disease.
After receiving the information, police party of police station Chatroo, Medical team from PHC Chatroo, Veterinary team, Army personal from Chingam unit of 11 RR, local people and villagers rushed to the spot and started rescue operation; beside brought the dead bodies from the gorge after 3 hour long hectic rescue operation.
Police shifted all the dead bodies to Primary Health Center Chatroo and District Hospital Kishtwar.
After conducting all legal formalities and autopsy, police handed over the body of deceased to his relatives for last rites.
The deceased were identified as Dr. Mohammad Rafiq Akhoon District Officer Sheep Husbandry Kishtwar (DSHO) (57) R/o Kishtwar, Dr. Amir Kamal Veterinary Assistant Surgeon (VAS) S/o Ghulam Nabi Kamal (30) R/o Kishtwar, Abdul Rehman S/o Lassa Reshi (58) R/o Chatroo, Irshad Ahmed S/o Ghulam Mohammad Wani (42) R/o Sheri Chatroo, Sat lal Sharma S/o Gosawoon Ram (40) R/o Berra Bhatta Kishtwar, Ghulam Ahmed S/o Mohammad Ramzan (58) R/o Mullar Chingam, Darshan Kumar Assistant Stockman S/o Munshi Ram R/o Samba Jammu, Abdul Kareem S/o Ghulabo (26) R/o Balana Sigdi and Driver Satish Kumar 40 yrs R/o Tagood.
Meanwhile sever political and non political leaders including MoS Home Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori, Senior Congress Leader and MLA Inderwal, Congress leader Shamsher Singh Bhandari, Tilak Raj Shan, Farooq Tapal, PDP Youth President Umar Malik, JKNPP State Secretary Anil Parihar, social activist Sanjeev Parihar, Shakir Siddiqui expressed deep shock and grief on the loss of precious lives in today's tragic accident.
All has conveyed his heart felt condolence to the family member of bereaved families and prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls. They also prayed to Almighty Allah to give strength to the family members of the deceased to bear irreparable loss.
Meanwhile Congress MLA Ghulam Mohammad Saroori called upon the State Government to take serious note of the underlying causes of the recurrent road accidents.
Saroori also blamd GREF authority for today's accident and added that 20 KM stretch of Kishtwar-Sinthan road where the accident took place is in deplorable condition.
