Jammu, July 17: The private parking within the Jammu & Kashmir Fire and Emergency Services (JKFES) at Kachi Chowni has not only 'eye catchers' for passersby but have become a stumbling block also especially during the emergency situation The motto of Fire and Emergency Service is "We serve to save" but all this depends upon the 'golden hour' i.e. the time between the emergency call and the arrival of the fire tenders to the accident spot but such idly parked private vehicles may turn a virtual hurdle during such emergencies, a passersby said. Another passing buck pin pointed that these idle private parked vehicles seen parked Fire Station Kachi Chowni pose a serious threat to Emergency Services squad, and often are seen parked in front of the garage of Fire and Emergency services City Jammu and may cause a delay in case of any emergency/eventuality. "These may be owned by some govt officer or by an officer of concerned agency but common masses have a query that in case of any emergency, the fire tender squad might have to call owners of these private vehicles to give way or ram into them to reach to accident spot," he added. Reliable sources added that the parking area of JKFES station City Jammu is being eaten up by some influential localites as private some private vehicles are often seen parked in front of the Garage of JKFES station City Jammu. They also question the civic sense of the people who park vehicle infront of the Fire Station which has a vast area of service under its jurisdiction and often is blamed delayed action i.e. for reaching spot quite late. Sources further claimed that fire management has also been affected by the deficiencies pertaining to fire stations, fire fighting, rescue vehicles and human resources to deal with the challenges, but if Emergency Services are deficient people also need to be area of their duties. No one knows here to whom they should criticize the fire department authorities or the owners of the vehicles who had covertly or overtly had created a hurdle in the way of emergency services. Pertinently, sources also claimed that none of these vehicles belong to any of the officials of JKFES. Asstt Director Fire& Emergency Services Command Jammu, Ashok Kumar Wangnoo when contacted briefly said, "I don't have any idea regarding this matter and haven't received any complaint yet". If there is any complaint we will take action against the owner of vehicles who park vehicles in front of Fire Station, he said categorically. |
