| OMAR TO HANG BOOTS….? | | vNC failing to come up with any 'workable dispensation' | | Mishu Gupta JAMMU, July 17: Either the National Conference is a desperate lot or otherwise it has fallen short of its credibility in the state to spring up surprises for the people of Jammu and Kashmir to present them with some new ideology that may redeem its dead polity. While no National Conference candidate is right now in position to react to the contemporary arrangement of the party that had assured drastic changes to make inroads back into the hearts and minds of the people , but the recent announcement of list of its members contesting the 32 seats apparently shows that NC repeating its earlier camaraderie in the contest projects that the party has no option but to repeat its candidates in the state or it has lost grounds to come up with any novel ideas or the people to lead the state with a winnable character. After the debacle in the parliamentary contest, the part head Omar Abdullah as well as the former new and renewable energy minister Farooq Abdullah had assured the people of the state that party would come back with a thumping majority to lead the political dispensation of the state, but the repetition of the alleged 'deadwoods' in the 32 constituencies have proven the fact that NC have become a hub of chosen few ones, besides which the party have no vision and control to reach the masses with a guarantee that it would give a workable dispensation to the state. As soon as the party lost the mandate for the parliamentary position, the chief minister Omar Abdullah made some glaring changes in working modalities of his government by immediately announcing sops for the unemployed youth of the state as well showering bouquets on the serving employees demanding complete merger in the government jobs. "This does not serve the purpose as designed by the chief minister as the entire exercise was focused keeping in mind the people of the valley, while Jammu once again was ignored as Omar is still under the impression that Kashmir would rise to occasion to help him and his father to consolidate back their lost grandeur in the state which is now a farce story," said one of the senior NC leader wishing not to be named. Also the clemency demanded by Omar Abdullah for the stone pelters of the valley were effectively rebuffed by the centre that called for a detailed information to be furnished to the government so that the discrepancies in the modalities could be worked out that boomeranged on Omar and the company, the leader said. Given such situation, the NC that has widely admitted that it may not go for a coalition contest for the assembly elections, once again finds itself standing the flimsy grounds as Omar himself knows that People Democratic Party has already made a wounding dent to the party cadre in Srinagar while retaining some hope from Jammu is a farfetched dream for National Conference. Political analysts as well as the observing scientists have already called it a day for the party and are watching the day when CM may hang his boots. |
