Three cops allegedly thrashed over 'rental dispute' in Rajouri

RAJOURI, July 17: Three policemen reportedly were thrashed by the agitated inhabitants of Jawahar Nagar locality after these policemen allegedly tried to manhandle the owner of the house over pending rent issue.
According to reports one of the policemen identified as Parteek Singh is a tenant in a house in the locality for the last three months and owner identified as Nishu was demanding rent for one month which already was delayed by more than 20 days.
"When Nishu demanded rent for the last month, Parteek tried to avoid giving some excuses which reportedly made Nishu annoyed resulting into verbal dispute took between the two which lead to physical scuffle on Wednesday, sources said.
Sources said, "Not intending to budge easily, Parteek went to police lines and came back along with some of his colleagues who reportedly threatened the owner and his family members for dire consequences. "Hearing the screams the neighbors and other residents rushed to the house and caught hold of three policemen among them while Parteek and rest managed to escape, sources said.
All the three were thrashed by agitated locals who alleged instead of maintain law and order the cops were indulged in harassing the people, sources said and added that later senior police officials were also communicated about this incident. The locals demanded action against the alleged policemen while police officers were trying to settle the issue amicably.
Meanwhile Shiv Kumar Chouhan, ASP when contacted said that the dispute was between the owner of the house and a police constable over rental issue which was settled amicably and the inhabitants have gave the police in writing that the matter was settled and they don't want any action against erring policemen.
He also denied some rumors about the suspension of all these four constables and departmental inquiry.
